Scouter of the Year

Recognition of the outstanding accomplishments, achievements or service by a Scouter to a Boy Scout or Cub Scout unit over the past year.

District Award of Merit

The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by the districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils. The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. The award is made available annually on a basis of 1 for each 25 units or fraction thereof. A professional Scouter may not receive this award based on professional service. However, a professional Scouter who also serves as a volunteer Scouter may be eligible, based on volunteer service. The District Award of Merit consists of a plaque with a silver overhand knot on it, a lapel pin, and a cloth silver overhand knot on dark blue, ends down, embroidered knot to wear on the uniform shirt.

Silver Beaver

The Silver Beaver Award is a national award given by the local Council to an adult in recognition of exceptional and noteworthy service to youth for fulfilling Scouting's aim of providing responsible, mature adults as good models for youth. The Silver Beaver is awarded by the local council, while the Silver Antelope is awarded on the regional level, and the Silver Buffalo is awarded on the national level. These are classified as Scouting's highest commendation and can be awarded to civilians who are not members of the BSA. The Silver Beaver Award consists of a blue and white ribbon and silver charm pendent for formal wear, a lapel pin, and a cloth blue and white embroidered square knot to wear on the uniform shirt.

District Chairman's Award

The District Chairman's Award is a locally generated award presented by the District Chairman to an individual or group to which he or she feels has provided exceptional service to the district and the chairman during the past year. The District Chairman's Award generally consists of a certificate or plaque but can vary based on the District Chairman's decision.

James E. West Award

The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for individuals who invest $1,000 or more in cash or securities to the Baltimore Area Council's endowment fund. The award is for contributions "in addition to the donor's annual Friends of Scouting gift." While individuals can make this donation on their own and receive this award, the people listed here are persons that the Carroll District have made the contribution on their behalf. Generally, one James E. West Fellowship Award is awarded each year. The James E West Fellowship Award consists of a certificate, a lapel pin, and a cloth green and gold embroidered square knot to wear on the uniform shirt.
