The Swim Program is an opportunity for Scouts and Webelos to work on swimming-related requirements. Scout may earn the Swimming Merit Badge or Lifesaving Merit Badge and to pass the swimming advancement requirements for Second Class and First Class. Webelos may attempt the Aquanaut Activity Pin. The program consists of two divisions:

Swim Program - Boy Scout Division

Bring: Swim suit (no cutoffs), towel, extra set of clothes (see Special Instructions below), Merit Badge Book (See Special Instructions below), merit badge application card (blue card)

Special Instructions

  1. Each Troop with Scouts in attendance is expected to have an adult leader present to help if needed. The Permission Slip must have the Scout's name, Troop number, telephone number, and the Swimming Activity in which he will be participating. This ensures enough instructors for each activity.
  2. Scouts registered for the Lifesaving Merit Badge or the Swimming Merit Badge must obtain and read the current Merit Badge Book before attending. Bring the book with you.
  3. For the Swimming Merit Badge, Scouts should bring an extra set of clothes on 2010-01-17 and the following sessions until they have passed the swimming with clothes requirements. The extra clothes to be worn in the pool must be a long sleeve button front flannel or cotton shirt and a fairly loosely fitting pair of trousers. Extra shoes and socks will not be needed.

Special Instructions

  • Each Webelo or group of Webelos should have an adult present to help if needed, including entering the water.
  • Parents not assisting are requested to sit in the stands as there is limited room on the pool deck.
  • If any Webelo needs some swimming instruction, this will be available on a limited basis. Any such Webelo may want to sign up for additional sessions. This can be done at the pool if a Webelo needs to return to complete the bage.
