Klondike Derby 2009 - Ice Road Mushers

Klondike 2009 - Ice Road Mushers

Klondike is a wintertime outdoor event where Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts face challenges reminiscent of what the miners of the Yukon Gold Rush faced. Boy Scouts and Webelos may sleep out Friday and Saturday. Competitions take place on Saturday during the day with the boys traveling along the ice road (different routes setup for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and High Adventure) from town to town collecting points based on the skills shown at each station. Webelos II Cub Scouts have the option of participating on the Cub Scout side or on the Boy Scout side of Klondike.

Adults can compete too! The 5th annual Scoutmaster's Choice Dutch Oven Cook-Off allows teams of adults and Scouts to cook the best dishes in each of several categories.

This year we are introducing a new idea - non-Scout boys who are registered in advance will be allowed to participate in either the Cub or Boy Scout Klondike (not permitted for High Adventure). Each guest must have a signed permission slip - a copy of this form must be handed in with registration paperwork. Please also keep a copy with the adult leader who is travelling through the stations with the guest.

We look forward to seeing you on the Ice Road!
